Biography

Ortiz joined the staff as a Graduate Assistant Sports Performance Coach in the Fall of 2022 and was promoted to full-time Assistant Sports Performance Coach in the Fall of 2023. He currently works with Softball, Volleyball, and Wrestling, and coordinates the Sports Performance Student Internship program. He is also an Adjunct Professor for the Exercise Science department.

Ortiz holds a Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies from Campbell University and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Grand Canyon University. He has gained hands-on experience through internships at The University of Texas, Grand Canyon University, Bakersfield College, and Brophy College Prep, working across a wide range of sports.

He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, a USA Weightlifting Level 1-certified coach, and a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist. In addition, he is a competitive weightlifter.
