Biography

I served as a full-time Police Officer from 1987-1999. Following this, I served with the NC Department of Justice/Justice Academy from August of 1999 until my retirement in May of 2016 as the Program Director and Chief Instructor for the Subject Control/Arrest Techniques and Physical Fitness Training Programs. I also served as the School Director for the Police Corps/Basic Law Enforcement Training program.

I am currently a reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and have been employed in law enforcement for over 30 years. Further, I have been training both law enforcement and detention personnel since 1994 in numerous specialized areas, and have been retained to provide written and oral opinions along with deposition/trial testimony in both civil and criminal cases in the areas of use of force, physical fitness, training tactics, and arrest, search and investigation techniques. Currently, I am a sworn law enforcement officer with the NC Special Police in Fayetteville (a company police agency), and provide full police services in a variety of special assignments and locations to include patrol, in-service training, and school resource based on contract and need.

I have been instructing in the Criminal Justice program at Campbell since 2001 and am currently an adjunct faculty for the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program at Fayetteville Tech, Sandhills CC, and Richmond CC, providing instruction in several specialty topic areas.
