Biography

Alison Mossey serves as an adjunct professor of flute at Campbell University. A versatile musician and teacher, she currently performs with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, the Trent River Chamber Orchestra, and holds an endowed chair as principal flutist of the Barton-Wilson Symphony Orchestra. She also serves on the faculty of Pitt Community College, where she teaches applied flute, piano, and music appreciation in addition to maintaining a private music studio in Greenville, NC.

A former winner of the Music Teachers’ National Association Woodwind Competition, Ms. Mossey has performed with the Carolina Philharmonic, the Chautauqua Festival Orchestra, and the Champlain Valley Symphony Orchestra.  Ms. Mossey was named a winner of the 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022 National Flute Association Professional Flute Choir Competitions.

When she is not teaching or performing, Ms. Mossey enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and whitewater rafting, traveling with her family, and relaxing at home with her two dogs.

Ms. Mossey is a native of Plattsburgh, NY and holds degrees in flute performance from The Hartt School of Music (BM, Flute Performance) and East Carolina University (MM, Flute Performance.) Her most influential teachers include Kenneth Andrews, John Wion, Julius Baker, and Christine Gustafson.
