Dr. Dr. Paul Boaheng
Biography
Dr. Paul Boaheng’s teaching, and research interests encompass Introduction to Philosophy, World Religions, Contemporary Ethical Theories, Applied Ethics, Critical Thinking, and Social and Political Philosophy. He authored a book titled Skepticism and Practical Reasoning in Hume’s Ethical Theory and contributed to a book titled Critical Thinking: Methods and Cases. Additionally, his articles have been featured in esteemed scholarly journals such as The Journal of Cultural and Religious Studies, Thinking About Religion, and South African Journal of Philosophy. He has also contributed refereed articles to the Encyclopedia of Criminal Justice Ethics and Encyclopedia of Economics and Society. Additionally, he has presented scholarly papers at several conferences locally, nationally, and internationally, including in Norway, Canada, and China.
Dr. Boaheng is an associate professor and coordinator of the Philosophy program at Fayetteville State University. Also, he has taught at various universities and colleges, including Paine College, Augusta University, the University of Alberta in Canada, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Norway.
Dr. Boaheng is honored to have received multiple prestigious teaching awards, including the prestigious University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching, Fayetteville State University Teacher of the Year, the College of Arts and Sciences Teacher of the Year, the Department of Government and History Teacher of the Year at Fayetteville State University, and the Outstanding Online Course Design. Further, in recognition of his excellence in teaching World Religions and Global Understanding courses, Dr. Boaheng was awarded highly competitive fellowships by the China Studies Institute and the Japan Studies Institute. These fellowships were granted by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in collaboration with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the Nippon Foundation in Japan. As a result, he participated in the China Studies Institute held in Shanghai, Beijing, and Xi’an, China, and the Japan Studies Institute held in San Diego, California.
Dr. Boaheng has organized and led Global Understanding Course training workshops in the USA and China, aiming to equip faculty members in both countries with techniques to design and teach Global Understanding courses.
Dr. Boaheng is actively involved in various areas of church life, including serving as an Ordained Elder, a Bible study teacher, and the Leader of the Family Life Ministry.
