Biography

James Hampson graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with Bachelors of Science degrees in Nutrition Science and Biological Sciences. He then completed Campbell University’s dual Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) and Master of Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP) program, earning accolades such as the Director’s Award, Excellence in Professionalism Award, and the Interprofessional Education Leadership Recognition Award. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, expected to complete in 2024.

Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board, Mr. Hampson provides comprehensive care to rural and underserved pediatric populations in his role at a pediatric primary care clinic. Before transitioning to PA education, he served as a clinical preceptor for several academic institutions, sharing his expertise through hands-on learning experiences.

Mr. Hampson’s commitment to professional development is evident through his participation in prestigious fellowships. He completed the Campbell University Primary Care Champions Fellowship, funded by HRSA, to prepare healthcare professionals as leaders and teachers. Additionally, he participated in the Duke University Primary Care Preceptor Development Fellowship, where he engaged in advanced training in teaching, curriculum design, and quality improvement, including a project to enhance cholesterol screening rates in pediatric clinics.

His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants (NCAPA), Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics (SPAP), and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Outside of his professional life, he enjoys riding motorcycles, playing hockey, and spending time with his wife and three children. He is very active in his local church and serves as a middle school life group leader.
