Biography
Luke Smith Morgan is an Assistant Professor of Law at Campbell Law, with teaching focused on public law courses including civil procedure, federal courts, and constitutional law. Previously, Smith Morgan worked for a nonprofit and served as a fellow in the leadership office of the North Carolina Department of Justice. He also clerked for federal judges for the District of Connecticut and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Smith Morgan’s research and scholarship focuses on the intersection of democratic political economy and constitutional law, as well as on the development of constitutional doctrine. His work particularly focuses on the First Amendment, including issues related to press freedom and the political economy of journalism; intentionally addictive speech products like video games; and armed protest. His scholarship has been published in the Duke Law Journal, Penn State Law Review, William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal, and UC Law Constitutional Quarterly.
Smith Morgan received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he served as Senior Notes Editor for the Duke Law Journal and was a member of the First Amendment Clinic and Moot Court Board. He received his B.A. from Indiana University.
