Biography

Dr. Macalalag (pronounced “Mack-uh-luh-lug”) is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice with CPHS. She graduated with her PharmD from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and completed PGY1 and PGY2 ASHP-accredited residencies focused in ambulatory care and academia through Cape Fear Valley Health/Campbell University and Benson Health/Campbell University, respectively.

Dr. Macalalag is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) who provides clinical pharmacy services at Cape Fear Valley Primary Care – Angier. Her primary specialty is Diabetes Mellitus/Prediabetes education and management. In her clinical practice, she provides detailed education on lifestyle/behavior changes to treat and prevent chronic diseases in addition to medication education and management. Outside of Diabetes Mellitus/Prediabetes, Dr. Macalalag’s other clinical areas of interest include overweight/obesity, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.

Dr. Macalalag is an ambulatory care preceptor for P4 Campbell University PharmD students at her practice site. She has a passion for teaching and mentoring students. Outside of work, she enjoys exercising (former CycleBar spin class instructor), spending time with her husband and dog, reading, and traveling.
