Biography

Dr. Adrienne Aiken Morgan is an adjunct professor of Pastoral Care at Campbell University Divinity School. She earned her MDiv with languages and distinction from the Divinity School in May 2024. Prior to attending Campbell, Dr. Morgan earned her PhD and MS in Psychology (Concentration: Clinical Neuropsychology) from the University of Florida and BA in Psychology, summa cum laude from Florida A&M University. She completed clinical internship training in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Chicago Medical Center and a clinical postdoctoral fellowship in Geriatric & Rehabilitation Psychology at Rush University Medical Center. In addition, she completed a research postdoctoral fellowship at the Duke University Aging Center and a teaching postdoctoral fellowship at the Duke University Thompson Writing Program.

A former faculty member at two University of North Carolina System institutions, Dr. Morgan’s ongoing program of research examines the influence of social and health disparities on cognitive aging and dementia risk among African Americans. She has over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous federally-funded (NIH and NSF) research grants to study the intersections of sociodemographics, cognition, and health. In 2022, she was named a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.

Along with maintaining her research program, Dr. Morgan is a North Carolina Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider in private practice. In addition, she serves as the Minister of Congregational Care at Baptist Grove Church in Raleigh, NC. In her role, she preaches, teaches, and oversees the congregational care ministries of the church.

Dr. Morgan is married to her college sweetheart, Rashad L. Morgan, Esq. They have two amazing sons and live in Durham, NC. She enjoys reading, sharing a good meal with family and friends, and vacationing at North Carolina beaches.
