Biography

Dr. Christian C. McIvor frequently performs as a trumpeter of all styles throughout the Southeast. Serving as the lead trumpet player for the Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra and Latin dance band West End Mambo, Dr. McIvor also appears often as a soloist and section player with various big bands, horn sections, symphonies, and chamber orchestras. He is also a member of Market Street Brass, a brass quintet that has performed internationally and throughout the United States. An avid composer and arranger, Dr. McIvor publishes with C. Alan Publications.

Also a prolific singer/songwriter and worship leader, Dr. McIvor serves as the Minister of Worship, Music, and the Arts at Greystone Baptist Church, a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship church in Raleigh. Dr. McIvor has held past teaching positions at schools of all levels throughout central North Carolina, including Guilford College, High Point University, Southwest Guilford High School, and The North Carolina Leadership Academy.

Dr. McIvor holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the State University of New York at Potsdam, Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Trumpet Performance (cognate in Jazz Studies) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Wake Forest University School of Divinity.

In his free time, Christian likes to spend time with his wife and two daughters. Originally from eastern Connecticut, he is a diehard Boston sports fan and enjoys the outdoors, running, biking, hiking, and reading.
