Biography

Dr. Connie Shipman Newsome joined Campbell Law School as registrar on June 16, 2014. She brings a wealth of experience in higher education, including registrar services and enrollment into her role at the law school.

As registrar Dr. Newsome oversees, manages, and coordinates all student records, registration, grade reporting, and transcripts.

Dr. Newsome arrived at Campbell Law after serving as the campus registrar for the Durham, N.C. ITT-Technical Institute campus. Prior to that she served in a variety of roles for DeVry University over the course of several years, including visiting professor, supervisor of registrar services, team lead of new student administrative services and registrar services, team lead of new student registration, and academic records coordinator. Dr. Newsome has also served as a graduate program liaison and program support associate at East Carolina University, project coordinator for Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County, a consultant to the Washington County Child Advocacy Council, program director for the Bertie County Partnership for Children, and adjunct professor at Martin Community College.

Throughout her career, Dr. Newsome has worked collaboratively to raise more than $325,000 in grants related to educational opportunities. She has also been actively involved in several community service organizations in both North Carolina and Illinois, holding leadership positions with the Koinonia Christian Center and Guardian ad Litem in N.C. She is passionate about higher education and advocacy against child abuse and neglect. In her spare time, she likes to read fictional novels, travel, and write poetry.

Dr. Newsome holds a B.S. and M.P.A. from East Carolina University. She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in June 2013.
