Dwayne Barnes has an extensive background in the marching arts. At 9 years old, he started his marching career playing percussion with a cadet drum and bugle corps. He spent 11 summers performing in World Class drum and bugle corps such as the Sky Ryders, 27th Lancers and the Long Island Kingsmen. His prior background with university bands includes eight fall seasons with the University of North Carolina Marching Tar Heels. He is the current Executive Director of Carolina Visual Productions winter guard and has held the position for 33 years. He is a Hall of Honor member for the Atlantic Indoor Association and currently works full time for the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at NC State University where he is a Graduate Services Coordinator.
