Biography

Dr. Bixby earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Campbell University. Dr. Bixby is an APTA Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and is currently completing a manual therapy fellowship through Regis University.
 
Clinically, Dr. Bixby has practiced in sports and orthopedic settings with a specialized focus on performing arts medicine, particularly in the care of gymnasts. Her clinical approach emphasizes movement quality, load management, and return-to-sport readiness.
 
Her research interests include gamification in healthcare education, musculoskeletal injury management, and return-to-sport testing. In Dr. Bixby’s academic role, she serves as Co-Director of Clinical Education, where she is committed to preparing students for successful clinical experiences and fostering lifelong professional growth. Her work centers on bridging classroom learning with clinical application to develop confident, adaptable, and patient-centered clinicians.
