Biography
Jared Fries was named Associate Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Support in July 2021 after serving in the interim role since June 2020. Fries joined the Campbell University Student-Athlete Support department in July 2015 as an Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Support. He was promoted to Director for Student-Athlete Support in June 2017.
He returned to his alma mater after serving three years as an athletic academic advisor at UNC Charlotte. In his position as Associate Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Support, Fries directs all aspects of academic support services for Campbell’s 21 sports.
During his time in Charlotte, Fries served as the advisor for golf, volleyball, track and field, and cross country. He also coordinated student athlete transition courses and the academic award nomination process.
Prior to Charlotte, Fries was an academic advisor from 2011-12 at Southern Illinois University, where he worked with baseball, football, men’s tennis, and men’s and women’s golf. From 2008-11 Fries was the academic coordinator/tutor coordinator at East Tennessee State University. As a graduate assistant at the University of Florida, Fries was a tutor for student athletes.
Before moving into athletic academic services, Fries worked for Wachovia bank as a financial center manager.
Fries is a 2004 cum laude graduate of Campbell with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. He earned a Master of Science degree in sport management from the University of Florida in 2006.
He is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A). He is a 2018 graduate of the N4A Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute (PDI) – Leader-Manager track.
Fries and his wife Tammi (Batson), who was a four-year member of the Campbell volleyball team, are parents of two daughters.
