Biography

Kanika Blue Capel joined the Campbell Law faculty in spring 2014 as an adjunct professor. In that capacity, she taught pretrial civil litigation. Currently, Capel is a visiting professor teaching courses in Civil Procedure.

Prior to joining Campbell, Capel served as an adjunct professor at Duke University School of Law, teaching pretrial civil litigation. She previously served as an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Before joining the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, Capel was a commercial litigator – first, with Covington and Burling in Washington, D.C., and later with McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, Virginia. She taught a course in appellate procedure at the University of Richmond School of Law during her time in Richmond. Prior to entering private practice, she clerked for the Honorable James R. Spencer in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Capel is a summa cum laude graduate of Duke University, with an A.B. degree in economics and public policy. She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was a John M. Olin fellow and member of the Yale Law and Policy Review.
