Biography
Ken Hammer is the Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer of Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions (a technology company specializing in retail store solutions jointly owned by Toshiba and the IBM Corporation) where he manages the day-to-day legal support for this $1.3B company with operations in over 40 countries.
Before joining TGCS, Ken spent five years as Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer of a SAS Institute subsidiary specializing in data management software and related services.
Ken began his legal career in 1984 with the IBM Corporation, where he held a variety of positions including Associate General Counsel responsible for IBM’s Personal Computer Division. When IBM sold its PC business to Lenovo (a Chinese technology company), Ken joined Lenovo as its Deputy General Counsel and its first lawyer outside of China.
Ken was selected in 2009 as one of ten “In-House Leaders in the Law,” by North Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly. He was also selected by Business North Carolina Magazine to their annual list of “Legal Elite” in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
Ken is the current Chair of the Mentoring sub-committee of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Strategic Planning Committee. He was selected to membership in the American Law Institute in 2009 and is Vice President of the local chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
