Biography

MARION T. HALEY, Instructor of Criminal Justice, has been at Campbell since 2014 as a full-time faculty member. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from North Carolina Central University, and Masters of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. She began her career with the SBI in October 1986, attending the 18th SBI Special Agent Academy. She retired at the rank of Special Agent in Charge, after 30 years of service in 2016. Throughout her career, she was assigned to the Northern Piedmont District, the Diversion Environmental Crimes Unit, Training and Investigative Support Section, Intelligence and Technical Services, Research and Planning Section, Career Services and Law Enforcement Programs. In addition, she managed the Agent Development Training Program, the Special Agent Field Training Program, In-Service Training for both sworn and non-sworn personnel, the SBI Recruitment and Internship Program and Accreditation Program. Professor Haley was a certified law enforcement general instructor, an EEOI adjunct trainer and certified DDI instructor. She is still an active Assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, conducting nationwide assessments of member law enforcement agencies.

Professor Haley has attended numerous law enforcement and investigative training courses throughout her tenure with the NCSBI. She achieved the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission Advanced Law Enforcement Certification. Upon retirement, Professor Haley was awarded the highest honor bestowed by NC Governor Cooper, The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

Prior to teaching at Campbell University, Professor Haley was an Adjunct Professor at Saint Augustine’s University, where she taught Criminal Law, Criminal Investigations, Victimology and Juvenile Justice. She currently teaches Criminal Investigation, Community Policing, Criminal Justice Policy, Introduction to Law Enforcement, Juvenile Justice, Correctional Philosophies & Issues, Fresh Eyes/Cold Case Homicide (NCSBI collaboration course), Race, Ethnicity and Crime, Introduction to Criminology, and Criminal Justice Internship.
