Biography
Dr. Nur Onvural earned her Ph.D. in Economics and an M.S. in Management, both from North Carolina State University, as well a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University. Early in her career, she worked in the health care industry while teaching in a variety of adjunct capacities. Later, she ran her own business for some number of years, thus gaining entrepreneurial experience.
Dr. Onvural joined Campbell University’s Adult & Online Education Division as a Professor of Management in August 2019. She formerly was a Professor of Economics and Finance at Pfeiffer University in the health and business administration programs for almost 18 years. She has also been a visiting professor at North Carolina State University. She is a certified Quality Matters (QM) peer reviewer for online courses.
Her research interests are in the areas of health economics, health finance, innovation, technology and digital transformation in health care. She currently teaches healthcare management, economics and finance courses. She worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, where she managed the design and implementation of cutting-edge healthcare reimbursement payment models for physicians and hospitals in a managed care environment and in the development of the electronic exchange capabilities between insurers and providers. In 2016, Cary Magazine awarded her as one of the five women of Western Wake county for her contributions to the community as an educator and entrepreneur.
