Biography
Teresa Artis joined the Campbell Law School faculty as an adjunct professor Spring 2017 teaching Contracts. Since 2020, she has been teaching the Nonprofit Law planning course. She also teaches Media Law as an adjunct professor at UNC Law School.
Professor Artis is a media attorney with experience as Vice President of Business Affairs at a Turner Broadcasting subsidiary in Atlanta, GA. She also served as General Counsel of Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) in Raleigh, NC. At CBC, she had legal and regulatory responsibility for radio and TV stations (including WRAL and Fox50), web and mobile entities, a satellite-services provider and the Durham Bulls Triple-A baseball team.
Professor Artis is currently in-house counsel handling licensing, compliance matters and special projects at TWR, a global nonprofit organization. Founded in 1954, TWR is a Christian content distributor that uses its infrastructure of radio, satellite, internet and mobile media to distribute original and third-party inspirational, disaster-relief and health-related content outside the U.S. to 190 countries in 200+ languages. Professor Artis works with global leadership on strategic partnerships, productions, licensing, distribution and data privacy matters. She conducts in-person training in regional offices including the Netherlands, South Africa and Singapore.
In addition to her TWR work, Professor Artis has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of UNC-Chapel Hill and has chaired the respective boards of WUNC-FM and the PBS-NC Foundation. For twelve years she served on the board of UNC Rex Healthcare where she chaired the Quality, Patient Safety and HR committee and served on the Audit committee.
Originally from Greensboro, NC, she and her husband enjoy living in Cary.
