Biography
Dr. Tiffany Lowe Clayton, DO, DABOM, MHPE, is an assistant professor of family medicine and the Director of Clinical Site Engagement and Development at CUSOM.
With more than 25 years of experience as an osteopathic physician, Dr. Lowe Clayton has committed herself to whole-person care, addressing the needs of the mind, body, and spirit. She believes in the power of prevention and lives by the motto: “think well, do well, and you will be well.” This philosophy guides her work as a family physician and obesity medicine specialist, where she equips her patients with the essential tools for sustainable and healthy weight loss.
A consummate teacher at heart, Dr. Lowe Clayton is honored to be an educator and faculty member at CUSOM. She is dedicated to training future physicians to deliver empathetic, compassionate, and culturally competent care. Her dedication to health equity is evident in her work to address the crisis of obesity as well as her efforts during the COVID pandemic. Alongside five colleagues from WakeMed Health System, where she currently practices as a board-certified bariatrician, Dr. Lowe Clayton played a crucial role in providing over 17,000 COVID vaccines to historically marginalized communities within the Raleigh area. While not done for accolades, the group, now known as “The Sister Circle”, earned national recognition for their tireless efforts, including the North Carolina Dogwood Award and commendations from former President Joe Biden.
In 2015, Dr. Tiffany founded The Institute of Transformational Health & Wellness Inc., focusing on stress management, healthy eating, and lifestyles. Her best-selling book, A Woman’s Guide to De-Stress for Success: 10 Essential Tips to Conquer Stress and Live at Your Best, further extends her mission to empower individuals to live their best lives.
As a sought-after health expert and motivational speaker, Dr. Tiffany is frequently featured in media outlets including WRAL Raleigh TV, WTVD-ABC11 News, Spectrum News, Black Doctor.Org, Obesity Pillars and US News & World Report. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD., a Doctorate in Medicine and a residency in family medicine from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ, a master’s in health professions education (MHPE) from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine and additional certifications in both obesity medicine, physician leadership and health equity.
She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Obesity Medicine Association, the North Carolina Obesity Society, the North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association and the NC Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Sigma Tau Omega Chapter in Cary, NC.
Above all of her professional accomplishments, Dr. Tiffany treasures her role as a devoted wife and mother. She also enjoys hobbies of singing, cooking and recreational boxing.
